What is the Coalition’s relationship to the Georgia Ropeway Association?

The Georgia Ropeway Association was organized in Atlanta in 1927 to advance an aerial ropeway alignment of the Beltline. It is not known to have met after 1931. The Coalition was constituted in 2024 as its successor and holds its surviving records.

We are asked, reasonably often, why a contemporary organization would claim a lineage of this kind rather than simply present its own work. The answer is that the alignment was surveyed once before, competently, by people who had no reason to expect it would take a century to be looked at again. That work is worth preserving and worth crediting.

The surviving material amounts to a single document box. A collection inventory is published for anyone who wishes to consult it.
